I found this one quite difficult to pick but have decided on “Any Dream Will Do” from Joseph. I just think that song is well overrated and the lyrics don’t really make much sense.

The first musical I ever saw on the stage was a production of ‘Grease’ which was a touring version of the much loved musical. Funny that I loved it when I was younger but not that bothered about it now.

This a quote from Bridget Jones just keeps being true over and over again. Just as you think everything is going well or good, something else falls apart. Moral of it all, you can never be truly happy or have everything all at once. I keep having moments when my life seems to fall apart. Most of the time it is when one thing starts getting a little bit better another thing then decides that it is going to fall apart. I guess life just isn’t fair and you are just not allowed to be totally happy . . . for more than like a day anyway.

Not that I am happy very much, I think I have pretty much accepted that I am never really happy.

Maybe I expect too much from life and from the people in my life, but a track record of being let down and just annoyed by those around me have put up quite a wall now and I stopped letting people completely in! Ok so maybe that’s not what this blog post is actually about. But why must everything keep going round and round in circles with no real change in the outcome of everything?

So should we be aiming lower in an attempt to avoid disappointment and getting hurt by things? Well I guess that could be one solution. If something goes well with work, then something seems to go wrong in the personal side. Then the opposite happens when something in the person life is going well, the work side seems to fall apart. This seems to happen all of the time as well.

I know I can’t take one more step towards you . . .

Or is it? I have quite a decision to make for Sunday . . . unless of course he is just playing me again. Although making his mouth go and telling people he asked me to go and spend a weekend with him probably wasn’t the best idea at all. I really still cannot grasp everything he said to me almost two weeks ago. After such a long space of time since I even spoke to him let alone to be transported back to it being two years ago again.

I don’t really understand why he suddenly wants me back after the awful way that it all ended . . . or should that be the way he ended it in such a spineless way. So the song ‘Jar of Hearts’ really does help to explain exactly how I am feeling about this situation. Or parts of it are how I should be responding to it all.

This should be so true, I should be strong enough not to fall back into his arms – but this has been something I have been thinking about for the past couple of weeks. I am not sure if I want to be back in his arms or not, or maybe that should be I am not sure if I will end up bringing back all of the feelings I used to have.

So I still not really know what I am going to do at all, I guess I could just easily avoid seeing him and therefore not having to decide either way. I guess just waiting and seeing what happens could be the only option as I am really not sure what to do at all. But I guess I really shouldn’t take one more step back towards Mr.Big . . . is anything wrong with one last time?

Great North Run 2011

On Sunday I took part in my first ever Great North Run – therefore being able to fulfill a lifetime ambition of doing the run. I have always watched the run from some point, most often along the coast road. So to eventually take part in the event was just incredible.

I have to admit though that the nerves started in the days building up to the event and I was becoming very anxious. I had set myself a target of under 2 hours and from the training I had been doing for it, it was looking like it would be rather close but over the 2 hour mark. So my final finishing time was 2:01:15 – that was including stages of walking once I hit a break wall somewhere along the John Reid Road and again just past the Nook! I pretty much flew over the Tyne Bridge with my first mile being done in 7:45 and the second in 7:33!

I had music on my iPhone and playing with the Nike GPS+ app. I was curious to see how accurate that was, but the miles were slightly shorter than the road markers for which mile you were at. So I wasn’t entirely sure how that would affect my finish time. You can imagine the frustration when it told me my time at 13 miles was 1:59!

Everyone seems to be impressed with my time for the run, especially with it being my first time. Maybe I should just be happy about it and aim to be well under 2 hours next year. I am going to just keep running – does wonders for your general fitness and I actually enjoy it (well most of the time). I am planning on my first post great north run tomorrow. As my legs are feeling more normal once again.

Being able to run on the roads I have travelled to in the car many times before was something special. Having all the people supporting you from the pavements and bridges was also just incredible as well. Helping you along the way with fruit, jelly babies, ice pops and extra drinks!

So my training will continue to get a better time in the 2012 run . . . hoping I manage to get a place of course! It really was a lifetime ambition fulfilled and my relief and happiness when approaching the finish line was well deserved. Roll on the 2012 run!
